Western Illinois' Gochneaur named Player of the Week
ELMHURST, Ill. - Western Illinois freshman Austin Gochneaur was named the Summit League Offensive Player of the Week for his efforts during the week of Aug. 28-Sept. 3.
In just his second collegiate start, Gochneaur netted a pair of goals in a 2-1 victory over DePaul. His first goal came just 65 seconds into the match, before scoring the game-winner in the 69th minute to put the Leathernecks ahead for good.
Gochneaur totaled four shots during the week, all of them on target, as Western Illinois went 2-0 during over that span.
His two goals and four points are also best on the squad.
