SUMMIT HONOR
WIU'S Deitrich Defensive Player of the Week
ELMHURST, Ill. - Western Illinois sophomore keeper Yves Dietrich was named the Summit League Defensive Player of the Week, spanning from Sept. 10-16.
Dietrich led a strong defense at the Chicago South Loop Hotel UIC Soccer Classic over the weekend as the Leathernecks tied Big Ten opponent 0-0, before falling 1-0 to UIC.
In those two games, Dietrich saved eight of the nine shots he faced, including a diving effort in overtime against Wisconsin to extend the game.
His play during the weekend earned him a berth on the all-tournament team as the lone goalkeeper out of the 11 honorees.
He has been reliable in net all year, as he is currently second in the conference with a .794 save percentage and .097 goals against average.
