MILWAUKEE - Sophomore Laurie Bell of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee has been named the Horizon League Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week.
Milwaukee remained unbeaten in Horizon League action with a 1-0-1 week. Wednesday, it overcame a 2-0 deficit at Green bay to retain the Chancellor's Cup with a 2-2 draw. Then, back at home Saturday, the Panthers improved to a perfect 4-0 at Engelmann Stadium in 2012 with a 2-1 victory over UIC in overtime.
Bell played a key role in each match. His goal off a free kick tied the game at 2-2 in Green Bay. On Saturday, his free kick at the 91:14 mark turned out to be the assist on the game-winner in overtime against the Flames.
Bell is second in the Horizon League lead in points (14) and goals (5) and is tied for the top spot in assists (4). He also leads the conference with 41 shots. The award is the second of his career.
