STREAK SNAPPED
Panthers fall to Cowgirls 3-1

MILWAUKEE, Wis. – Kelsey Bass had a goal and an assist to lead Oklahoma State to a 3-1 win over UW Milwaukee, ending the Panthers three game winning streak on Sunday at Engelmann Stadium

The fell Panthers (5-8-1) behind 3-0 to the Cowgirls (11-4-3) and could not recover.

“It was a disappointing result, but as usual we played hard and fought to the end,” UWM head coach Greg Henschel said. “I was proud of the team for finding a goal at the end of the match. Sammy Vovos, in a really brave moment, had a great finish. I was glad to see the team play through the whole match.”

Oklahoma State broke through for the game’s first goal in the 37th minute. Kelsey Bass bent a corner kick into the goal at the far post for her first goal of the season.

The Cowgirls put in a second goal in the final minute before halftime when Megan Marchesano broke free from the midfield and was able to dribble in on keeper Jamie Forbes 1v1. She calmly finished past Forbes to give the road team a two-goal advantage heading into overtime.
In the second half, OSU pushed their lead to 3-0 in the 50th minute when Carson Michalowski headed in a free kick from Bass.
Sammy Vovos got Milwaukee on the board in the 79th minute with her third goal of the season. Kelsey Kochanowski started the play, picking out Sara Stern in the midfield. Stern one-touched a bounding ball into the box, where Vovos was able to get a foot on the ball and send it into the net before colliding with goalkeeper Adrianna Franch.

OSU finished with a 13-8 shot advantage and 7-5 edge in corner kicks. Pantehrs goalkeeper Jamie Forbes finsuhed with three saves, while OSU's Franch had two.

The Panthers return to action next Friday, closing out the regular season by hosting Cleveland State at 7 p.m.
