MEN'S PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Wisconsin-Milwaukee's Laurie Bell
University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee junior midfielder Laurie Bell has been named Chicagoland Soccer News Men's College Player of the Week for the week ending October 6.
The native of Poynton, England scored a goal and added an assist in each game last week, helping Milwaukee to a 2-0 record to improve to 9-0-1 and remain one of just five unbeaten teams in left at the Division I level.
Bell scored a penalty kick to get the Panthers level against Omaha before assisting on the game-winner in the 3-1 victory. He set up the game-winner against Wright State Saturday before scoring the third and final goal in the 3-0 shutout.
Bell, who was also named Horizon League Offensive Player of the Week, became the first Panthers player to score a goal in four consecutive games since Antou Jallow scored in the last five games of the 2004 season.
Bell is second in the Horizon League in points and goals and ranks 13th in the country in total points with 17.
