BIG EAST CHAMPIONSHIP
St. John's bests UConn 1-0

HARRISON, NJ---The St. John’s Red Storm are Big East Tournament champions after Jack Bennett’s 96th minute goal gave them a 1-0 overtime win over the Connecticut Huskies at Red Bull Arena on Sunday.

The Red Storm will get the conference’s automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament, while UConn, ranked fourth in the nation, will await the selection show on Monday.

After seven tense minutes of overtime, Bennett picked up a miscued Connecticut pass and was clear through on the Connecticut goal were he coolly slotted the ball past Andre Blake to give the Red Storm their 10th Big East Tournament Title.
