Illinois midfielder Vanessa DiBernardo has been named the Chicagoland Soccer News Womenís College Player of the Year. She also is among the finalists for the Soccer News Net Womenís College Boot, awarded to the national player of the year.

The nominations included athletes playing at colleges within the siteís coverage area, as well as athletes from the area playing collegiately elsewhere in the country.

DiBernardo (Naperville, Ill./Waubonsie Valley HS/ASC Eagles) was named Big Ten Midfielder of the Year and a First Team All-Conference selection after leading the Fighting Illini in points (35) and goals (15) this season.

DiBernardo recorded seven game-winning goals, including three in conference play. She also ranks in the top-20 nationally in goals, points, goals per game and points per game. She also netted the overtime game-winner to give the Illini their second Big Ten Tournament Championship. She was the Soccersavings.com/Chicagoland Soccer News College Player of the Week twice this season.
