WOMEN'S PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Illinois State’s Kyla Cross
Illinois State junior forward Kyla Cross has been named Chicagoland Soccer News Women's College Player of the Week for the week ending October 14.
Cross set a new program record with four goals in a 9-2 victory over Indiana State Sunday afternoon at Adelaide Street Field.
Cross became the first Redbird in history to score four goals in one game when she got in behind the Sycamore defense on a through ball from Ali Farkos in the 84th minute and converted to give the Redbirds their ninth goal of the match. The eight points also eclipsed the previous program high of seven.
The Clinton Township, Mich. Native got on the board in the 45th minute, putting her own rebound past Sycamore keeper Erin Mitchell. Cross put home a rebound from a Rachel Bostick header in the 72nd minute to extend the lead to 6-1, and put away her third goal of the match four minutes later, off an assist from Kayla Campbell.
