NOTRE DAME, Ind. – Former Notre Dame soccer player Joseph Lapira recently signed a professional contract with Nybergsund of the Adeccoligaen (second division) in Norway. Lapira, a two-time All-American, completed his stellar four-year Irish career this past fall. The Nybergsund season begins this weekend.

NOTRE DAME, Ind. – Notre Dame men’s soccer head coach Bobby Clark has hired BJ Craig as an assistant coach on the Fighting Irish staff. Craig spent last season in the same capacity at the University of Louisville. Prior to that, he had a four-year stint as head coach at Saint Francis University (Pa.). Craig replaces the departed Jamie Clark, who took the head coaching position at Harvard last month.

BALTIMORE, Md. – Notre Dame All-Americans Ryan Miller and Joseph Lapira were selected in the 2008 Major League Soccer (MLS) SuperDraft on Friday, January 18. The Columbus Crew selected Miller with the No. 31 overall pick, while Toronto FC selected Lapira with No. 35. Lapira is currently pursuing a professional contract in Europe.

CARY, N.C. – Joseph Lapira, a senior forward at Notre Dame, has been named a finalist for the 2007 Missouri Athletic Club (M.A.C.) Hermann Trophy. The award is presented annually to the top men’s soccer player in the United States. Lapira received the trophy last season. This year’s winner will be announced during a nationally-televised news conference on January 11, 2008.
