SCORING WHERE IT COUNTS
Fire vs. UIC Match Ends 0-0, Raises Money for Charity
CHICAGO – While the Fire and UIC didn’t score any goals on the field Wednesday night, they scored their no. 1 goal off the field – raising money for charity. 1,827 fans came out to watch the teams battle it out at Flames Field on a windy, yet almost warm spring night.

Mild Temps Predicted for Benefit Match
At this point, weather.com is predicting clear skies, mild temps and a bit of wind for Wednesday's benefit match featuring the Fire and UIC Flames. At 6 p.m., it's supposed to be 61 degrees and windy, but clear. The chance of precipitation is 10 percent.

UIC and the Fire kick off at 6 CT at Flames Field (901 W. Roosevelt), South of the Roosevelt Rd. and Morgan St. intersection.

UIC Hosts Chicago Fire Wed. in Benefit Match
Get ready Chicago Fire – and UIC fans. Wednesday you’ll have an opportunity to get up close and personal with your Chicago Fire as they take on the UIC Flames. The benefit match kicks off at 6:00 p.m. Wednesday at Flames Field, just South of the Roosevelt Rd. and Morgan St. intersection (901 W. Roosevelt Rd.).

CHICAGO – UIC midfielder Cesar Zambrano is headed to preseason training in Colorado, after being selected by the Rapids in the 2008 Major League Soccer Supplemental Draft on Thursday. The Rapids selected Zambrano in the first round of the draft with the fifth overall pick.

AMHERST, Mass.- The UIC men's soccer team's bid for the program's first-ever trip to the College Cup slipped away on an icy Rudd Field on Sunday in a 2-1 loss to host Massachusetts in an NCAA Tournament quarterfinal match.

Sarachan Leads Flames Past Creighton, 1-0
On a brisk night in Omaha, Nebraska, the UIC Flames accomplished something the program had never done before – a round of 16 win and a trip to the quarterfinal round of the NCAA Tournament. Ian Sarachan tallied the lone goal for the Flames, his second of the season, to lead UIC 1-0 over No. 8 seeded Creighton.

UIC Takes on Creighton in NCAA Third Round Saturday (Round of 16)
Omaha, Neb. - The UIC men's soccer team looks to continue its postseason run on Saturday when the Flames (12-5-6) travel to Omaha, Neb., to take on Creighton (12-2-5) in the NCAA Tournament `Sweet 16' at Morrison Stadium. Kick-off is set for 7 p.m. The winner faces Massachusetts or Central Connecticut State in the quarterfinal round next weekend.

On a brisk evening at Lakeside Field, UIC (12-5-6) upset No. 9 seed Northwestern 2-0, advancing to its second Sweet 16 in club history. The last time the club made the trip was 2000. The Flames head west to Omaha to face Creighton Saturday at 7:00 p.m.
