August 1, 2012 TEAMS ON TOUR Sporting ties Stoke City 1-1
SPORTING KANSAS CITY 1, STOKE CITY 1
KANSAS CITY, Kan.—Sporting Kansas City needed a stoppage time goal from Kyle Miller to earn a 1-1 draw against Stoke City at Livestrong Sporting Park Wednesday night.
Miller, making his first start for Sporting, deflected a clearance by Stoke goalkeeper Asmir Begovic into the net two minutes into stoppage time.
Stoke took the lead in the 84th minute on a penalty kick by Michael Tonge after he was fouled in the area by Konrad Warzycha. Tonge sent Sporting goalkeeper Eric Kronberg diving to his left, then tucked the ball inside the other post.
Sporting is winless in its four international matches since changing its name before last season.
