VANCOUVER, BC—Darren Mattocks scored in the fourth and 66th minutes to lead Vancouver Whitecaps FC (6-3-4, 22 pts) to a 3-1 win over the Houston Dynamo Sunday in front of 18,811 at BC Place.

Mattocks, who has three goals in his last two games, opened the scoring with an in-stride volley off Young-Pyo Lee’s setup pass, and doubled Vancouver’s lead after running onto a cross from Gershon Koffie.

Macoumba Kandji scored for the first time since joining the Dynamo to pull Houston within a goal with seven minutes left on the clock, but Jordan Harvey restored the two-goal advantage in the 88th minute, off Koffie’s second assist of the match.

Goalkeeper Joe Cannon made three saves for the win, including a leaping stop on Houston’s Bobby Boswell shortly before halftime. Tally Hall stopped four as the Dynamo fall to 4-4-4 (16 pts).
