MLS SUNDAY
A look at the upcoming game

LA Galaxy (15-11-4, 49 pts)@ Colorado Rapids (9-18-3, 30 pts), 6:00 pm CT (Galavision)
The Colorado Rapids are teetering on the brink of postseason extinction, but are still a tough team to beat at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park, where they will try to keep their playoff hopes alive Sunday against the LA Galaxy. The Rapids are unbeaten in their last three home games, and rallied to a 2-2 road draw with Vancouver in their last outing, snatching their 30th point of the season on an 86th-minute goal by Jamie Smith. Injury-plagued forwards Omar Cummings and Conor Casey both made it back into the lineup, and Cummings scored for the first time since July 14.Defense will probably be more of a concern for the Rapids than offense on Sunday, however. The Galaxy are scoring goals in bunches, even without star midfielder David Beckham, who is expected to see action for the first time since spraining his ankle more than three weeks ago. Robbie Keane has moved into a tie for second place in the MLS Golden Boot race with ten goals in his last 12 games, giving him 14 overall. Two of those goals came in last weekend’s 4-2 win over Toronto FC. Landon Donovan set up the second of those goals, leaving him tied with Graham Zusi for the league lead in assists (14), and placed ahead of Zusi on the table because he has played fewer games. Juninho also has helped the Galaxy fill the hole in midfield left by Beckham’s injury, netting four goals in his last four games, and recently-signed Swedish midfielder Christian Wilhelmsson opened his MLS scoring account in a 2-0 win over the Rapids on September 14, although he also picked up an injury that might keep him out of Sunday’s lineup. LA are on a season-best four-game winning streak, and have lost only once in their last 13 games (10-1-2).
