WASHINGTON, DC—Seattle Sounders FC (5-8-4, 19 pts) have never lost at RFK Stadium, and Roger Levesque kept that string intact on Thursday, scoring in the 89th minute to lift the Sounders over DC United 1-0 before a disappointed crowd of 13,716.

Levesque snapped the scoreless tie with a gutsy header inches from Dejan Jakovics foot as the two were crashing the far post. Fredy Montero collected the assist with a cross from deep on the right side.

Sounders goalkeeper Kasey Keller needed five saves to preserve the win, and got some critical help from defender Patrick Ianni in the 65th minute, when he got caught outside the penalty area and Santino Quaranta lofted a shot on goal. Ianni headed the ball off the goal line. Quaranta threatened again in the 75th minute, forcing Keller to tip a shot over the bar.

The loss dropped DC United to 3-10-3, only one point out of the Eastern Conference cellar with 12.
