Fire letting go of Giuseppe Gentile

BRIDGEVIEW, Ill. The Chicago Fire has waived forward Giuseppe Gentile. Gentile has not appeared in a first team match. The Charlotte, N.C. native was loaned to USL PRO side Charlotte Eagles on April 8.

He has played 544 minutes in 11 games and scored on goal for Charlotte.

Gentile relinquished his college eligibility after the MLS SuperDraft, and then signed a contract with MLS making him available to all teams. He was acquired by the Fire on Jan. 24 through the MLS Waiver Draft.

Gentile, finished his junior year at UNC Charlotte and scored 27 goals in three college seasons. He was the team's assist leader as a sophomore in 2012.
