Red Stars win again, down NY Fury 2-1

FOREST, Ill.---- Goals by Alyssa Mautz and Michele Weissenhofer gave the Chicago Red Stars a 2-1 win over the New York Fury Friday night at Concordia University.

Chicago remains the only unbeaten team in the WPSL Elite at 4-0, while the Fury fall to 3-2-1.
Weissenhofer set up the first goal, with a cross that glanced off the head of Lauren Fowlkes. Mautz was there for the tap-in in the 26th minute

Weissenhofer got a goal of her own in the 68th minute, taking possession of a Fury goal kick and going straight to goal.

The Fury got on the board in the 85th minute, on a goal by second-half sub Claire Zimmeck in the 85th minute. Kim Yokers, who had a two-goal game against Philadelphia last week, sent a cross into the area that Chicago goalkeeper Jamie Forbes dropped, and Zimmeck finished off. It was the first goal the Red Stars have allowed all season.

The Red Stars have a quick turnaround, facing ASA Chesapeake Charge (1-2-0) Sunday at 3pm at North Central College in Naperville.
