BRIDGEVIEW, Ill. -- The Chicago Fire has returned to semifinals of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup for the fifth time in six seasons. The Fire used first half goals by David Accam and Michael de Leeuw, plus a second-half score by Khaly Thiam, to take a 3-0 win over the Fort Lauderdale Strikers in a quarterfinal match at Toyota Park Wednesday night.

John Goossens assisted on David Accam's opening goal against Columbus on Tuesday. The Chicago Fire claimed another berth in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup quarterfinals on Tuesday, defeating Columbus Crew SC 2-1 at Toyota Park on the back of a David Accam brace. Accam had plenty of help in the attack, thanks in part to the return of midfielder John Goossens to the lineup.
