GHANA : HOW THEY QUALIFIED
After dropping a 1-0 decision to Burkina Faso in the
first game of African Group 2, Ghana rebounded and beat
South Africa, the host of the 2010 World Cup, in both
encounters, 3-0 and 2-0. They finished atop the group
at 6-1-3, 21 points ahead of the Democrat Republic of
the Congo and South Africa. The clincher came in a 4-0
triumph at the Cape Verde Islands on October 8, 2005.
Frimpong Asamoah gave Ghana all the scoring it needed
in the fifth minute. Sulley Muntari, Asamoah Gyan and
Godwin Attram also added goals.
