State Cup, Presidents Cup this weekend
ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, IL - - Three Illinois Youth Soccer tournaments will host semifinals and finals this weekend at Rockford's Sportscore One facility.
The Illinois State Cup will have title matches in the Boys & Girls U12 and Under-13 divisions and the Boys U14-U18 brackets. The Illinois Cup U11 Girls champions will be crowned and in the Illinois Presidents Cup, champions in the U13 Boys, U13 Girls, U14 Boys, U15 Boys and U16 Boys will be determined.
Semifinals for each of these divisions will be on Saturday, May 19 and championships on Sunday, May 20.
The Illinois State Cup is the most prestigious tournament in Illinois and the official state championship tournament of the US Youth Soccer National Championship Series. Since 1966, Illinois Youth Soccer has been conducting this official annual state competition. The Illinois State Cup provides an opportunity for over 250 teams in the under 12 - 19 age groups to showcase their soccer skills against the best competition. Winners of the Illinois State Cup advance to the US Youth Soccer regionals and have the opportunity to qualify for the nationals. The national finals are a culmination of a year-long series of competitions at the state and regional levels providing approximately 185,000 players on 10,000 teams from US Youth Soccer's 55 State Associations to compete against the best teams in the nation. The Illinois State Cup is one of the largest State Cup competitions in the United States.
The Illinois Presidents Cup provides Illinois Youth Soccer teams in the under 13 - 17 age groups an alternative to the Illinois State Cup and an opportunity to advance and compete against teams from across the country in the regional and national competition. The US Youth Soccer President's Cup is designed for those teams seeking additional challenges and the opportunity to play against teams of similar ability for a National Title. The President's Cup is a progressive, competitive experience (just like the US Youth Soccer National Championship Series) for teams that might not otherwise get the opportunity to participate in a Regional or National tournament and have the unique experiences from the competition and camaraderie that a state to regional to national US Youth Soccer tournament offers.
Illinois Cup is an annual statewide tournament for teams in the under 8 - 11 age groups and offers youth soccer players an opportunity to experience a consistent and high quality statewide tournament in a fun, family-like atmosphere. It fosters stimulation and excitement about soccer in an effort to increase the players' interest and love for the game.
Listed below is a complete schedule of this Championship Weekend can be found below. Girls U14-U19 and Boys U19 Illinois State Cup championships will be held in June and the U8-U10 Illinois Cup is on June 2-3.
Illinois State Cup champions in the U13-U19 divisions earn a bid in the US Youth Soccer Midwest Regional Championships in Saginaw, MI from June 23-27. Illinois Presidents Cup champions advance to US Youth Soccer Midwest Presidents Cup in Overland Park, KS from June 14-17.
