ADVANCING ECLIPSE
Two teams make State Cup finals

Two Eclipse Select teams have advanced to the semifinals of the 2012 Illinois State Cup.

The Eclipse Select East Black U-13 Girls team won two matches in the U-13 Girls bracket last weekend with a dominant 8-0 victory against Ela Elite, followed by a 3-0 win against FC Barrington in Sunday's quarterfinal. Next up, Eclipse Select faces the NSA Rockets at 8 a.m. Saturday at Sportscore 1 in Rockford. The winner advances to Sunday's championship to take on either St. Louis Scott Gallagher or CFJ Red 11.

The Eclipse Select U-17 Boys team also moved on to the semifinal stage with a 1-0 victory against the Chicago Magic on Sunday in the U-17 Boys bracket. Eclipse Select now faces Raiders FC Premier at 2 p.m. Saturday at Sportscore 1, with the winner moving onto the finals to play either Ela or Galaxy SC on Sunday.

Eclipse Select won the 2011 U-13 Girls championship in unique circumstances, with the North Black team defeating Eclipse Select's Tri-Cities team, 4-0, in the finale. That was part of five championship crowns by Eclipse Select in last year's tournament.
