TWO CROWNS FOR ECLIPSE
U-14 & U-19 Girls earn state crowns


Eclipse Select Soccer Club's Tri-Cities U-14 Girls team and U-19 Girls team earned championship crowns at the 2012 Illinois State Cup last weekend at Sportscore 2 in Rockford, Ill.

With the U-14 and U-19 titles, Eclipse Select has now won an impressive 47 Illinois State Cup titles as a club.

The Tri-Cities U-14 team defeated Eclipse Select North Black, 7-2, in Sunday's championship. Foster Ignoffo (Geneva, Ill.) had two goals for the Tri-Cities team, which built a 4-0 lead at one stage before North Black scored two of the game's next three goals.

Eclipse Select Tri-Cities had notched a 3-2 win against FC United during Saturday's semifinal stage. Abigail Dein (Glenview, Ill.) had the team's first two goals and Ignoffo contributed the game-winner as Kaitlyn Ko (Arlington Heights, Ill.) and Dein also helped break down the FC United defense to set up the go-ahead tally.

North Black advanced to the finals after defeating the Eclipse Select East U-14 Girls, 3-2, on Saturday. The winners built a 3-0 lead through the first half.

The Eclipse Select U-19 team defeated Crystal Lake Elite, 4-2, on Sunday to win the U-19 division of the Illinois State Cup. Morehead State-bound Teig Palmateer (Mokena, Ill.) played a role for Eclipse Select in the early stages, providing the corner kick assist on a goal by Northwestern's Niki Sebo (Downers Grove, Ill.) for a 1-0 lead, then assisting a goal by future Colorado Buffalo Carly Manso (Vernon Hills, Ill.) for a 2-1 advantage.

The Illinois State Cup has reached the semifinal and championship stages for the U-15 and U-17 age groups.

The Eclipse Select U-15 Girls advanced to its age group's semifinals following a 6-0 win against Heat United SC on Saturday in the Round of 16, then a 2-1 victory against FCX North Black in Sunday's quarterfinals. Eclipse Select's Emily Wyskiel (New Lenox, Ill.) and Sam Villwock (Lake Villa, Ill.) had noteworthy performances for the club over the weekend. Now Select faces SLSG Blue at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 16, at Sportscore 2. The winner advances to the championship on Sunday against either NSA Premier Jaguars or FC United Select.

Also in that bracket, Eclipse Select's East U-15 Girls posted a 5-0 win against the NSA Panthers in the Round of 16, but fell to FC United Select, 4-0, in the quarterfinals. Lexi Rose (Plainfield, Ill.) and Mary Nettleton (Elmhurst, Ill.) particularly had a good weekend for Eclipse Select.

The Eclipse Select U-17 Girls earned a 5-0 win against Strikers FV DuPage in the Round of 16 but came up a little short in the quarterfinals in a 3-2 loss to NSA Premier.
