Eclipse dominates sister club
Eclipse Select Soccer Club won four of its five Elite Clubs National League games on Sunday against sister club FC Wisconsin Eclipse at the Oak Brook Polo Fields in Oak Brook, Ill.
The Eclipse Select U-16 ECNL team improved to 6-0-0 in the Midwest Conference with a 2-0 victory against FC Wisconsin Eclipse. Hannah Davison (Geneva, Ill.) and Kayla Sharples (Naperville, Ill.) each scored a goal and Riley Sykes (Gurnee, Ill.) provided assists on both tallies.
The Eclipse Select U-18 ECNL team is atop the conference at 6-0-1 following a 2-0 win against FC Wisconsin Eclipse. Lauren Sajewich (Frankfort, Ill.) scored the game's first goal in the 55th minute off of a Michelle Mottenen (South Barrington, Ill.) assist and Samantha Powers (Gurnee, Ill.) drove the ball toward FC Wisconsin Eclipse's goalkeeper in the 67th minute and the ball bounced off of her hands and into the net for an own goal.
The Eclipse Select U-15 ECNL team put together a well-rounded performance for a 5-1 victory. Alissa Gorzak (Naperville, Ill.) had two goals, including what turned out to be the game-winner for a 2-0 lead. Marissa Bosco (St. Charles, Ill.), Cassie Rohan (Palatine, Ill.) and Courtney Daugerdas (Libertyville, Ill.) added a goal each and Lea Waddle (Lake Forest, Ill.) assisted Eclipse Select's first two scores.
Among the other ECNL teams, Eclipse Select's U-17s blanked FC Wisconsin Eclipse, 2-0, on goals from Nicole Niro (Barrington, Ill.) and Meghan Sadera (Winnetka, Ill.). Eclipse Select's U-14s dropped a 3-1 decision to FC Wisconsin Eclipse, with Channing Foster (Murray, Ky.) tallying the lone goal for the Illinois side on a bending free kick to cut FC Wisconsin Eclipse's lead to 2-1.
In the Midwest Regional League the Eclipse Select U-16 USYSA Girls played to a 1-1 draw on Friday against Sockers FC to qualify for regionals in Des Moines, Iowa, and next year's U-17 National League. Eclipse Select overcame a one-goal deficit when Erin Smith (Hinsdale, Ill.) scored the equalizer off of a Sydney Griffin (Hinsdale, Ill.) assist. With the victory, Eclipse Select improved to 7-0-2 atop the Girls U-16 Premier Division.
